Botox Treatment

botox injections

We’re sure by now that Botox treatment needs no introduction. It is one of the most popular aesthetic treatments available when it comes to anti-aging. But what you may not know is that Botox treatment is actually effective in treating a number of concerns.

What is Botox?

Botox or Botulinum toxin injections are used to relax muscles by blocking the chemical signals transmitted from the nerves. Most commonly in aesthetics, we use Botox treatment to restrict muscle movement on the face to combat the signs of aging, including wrinkles, frown lines, and crow’s feet.

What conditions can Botox work for?

Besides being highly effective in addressing the signs of aging, Botox treatment can be used to intervene with several other conditions, including migraines and hyperhidrosis.

Here are some of the things that Botox can be used to correct:

Hyperhidrosis – Hyperhidrosis can be embarrassing and causes you to sweat excessively due to overactive sweat glands. Botox can be used to treat the condition by blocking nerve signals that cause you to sweat.

Migraine – for some people, migraines can become severely impact daily activity. Botox injections can help control chronic migraines by blocking neurotransmitters that transmit pain signals from the brain.

Correct a lazy eye/ squint – Lazy eyes or squints can really affect one’s overall self-confidence. By injecting Botox into the muscle responsible for moving the eye, it helps to weaken the muscle and realign the eyes.

Cervical dystonia – This can be severely painful and causes the neck muscles to contract involuntarily making the head twist into uncomfortable positions. Botox treatment helps to restrict the movement of the muscles and restore proper neck function.

Muscle contractures – some neurological conditions like cerebral palsy cause the limbs to pull toward your centre. Botox can be used to relax the contracted muscles.

What to expect from Botox

Botox is non-invasive and can be performed in just 40 minutes, depending on the area you are treating. As Botox is an injectable treatment, you may experience some slight discomfort, however, we will apply some topical numbing cream to the area to help with any pain.

It is important to remember that Botox injections are a medical procedure and should always be performed by a trained professional. Here at Ness Aesthetics, we are fully licensed to perform Botox injections, but we will invite you in for a consultation before booking you in for your treatment.

Following your procedure, you may experience slight redness, tenderness, and bruising around the injection site. This is completely natural, and these side effects should clear up on their own within a few days. We advise that you do not rub or massage the area for around 24 hours and stay hydrated to help the skin heal.

If you need any more information on Botox treatment, or to book a consultation, please contact Ness Aesthetics.
