Face Shaping with Dermal Fillers

Non-surgical nose job face shaping

As collagen levels deplete, it is natural for your face to change meaning you may notice a loss of volume, shape, and overall definition in specific areas. If this is the case, you may be wondering if face shaping with dermal fillers would work for you.

The answer is yes. Done correctly, dermal fillers can lift, add volume, and alter the dimensions in specific areas for a more youthful appearance.

What are Dermal Fillers?

Before looking at how face shaping with dermal fillers works, it helps to understand what fillers are and how they work.

Most modern dermal fillers are based on Hyaluronic Acid, which alongside collagen is a naturally occurring substance in the skin responsible for retaining moisture. Both highly effective and versatile, dermal fillers are one of the most popular aesthetic treatments on the market, used to address several concerns.

Here at Ness Aesthetics, we only ever use dermal fillers to enhance your natural beauty. That is why, during your initial consultation we analyse your natural features, dimensions, and profile to identify where dermal filler may help, and the correct amount to complement your face.

The overall procedure is non-invasive and isn’t considered to be painful. You may experience a slight stinging sensation from the needles, but we will apply a topical numbing cream around the treatment area to ease any discomfort.

What can dermal fillers be used for?

Now, there are several areas where dermal fillers are highly effective when it comes to shaping the face. Below, we have listed some of the most common areas dermal fillers can help to shape.

Chin Augmentation

Dermal fillers can be used around the chin to minimise the appearance of a double chin, and jowls for a more lifted, defined, and youthful look.

Nose Reshaping

Dermal fillers can be used to make small adjustments to the overall nose shape and correct small bumps and imperfections without the need for costly, invasive Rhinoplasty procedures.

Sculpting the Lips

This is one of the most common uses for dermal fillers and can help to restore volume, change the overall shape, define the lip area, and even address common concerns such as a gummy smile.

Cheek Volume

As you age, you might find your cheeks start to lose volume. Dermal fillers can be injected into the cheeks to add volume and structure for a more youthful appearance.

Of course, there are many other uses for dermal filler, including:

• Smoothing fine lines and wrinkles

• Reducing the appearance of acne scars

• Addressing nasolabial folds

• Improving overall skin condition

• Reducing the appearance of dark circles

Are there any side effects?

Dermal fillers are classed as non-invasive meaning you won’t require any downtime and can return to your day as usual following treatment. Treatment takes around 30 minutes to complete but must always be administered by a trained professional.

Now, directly after treatment you may experience slight swelling, tenderness, and redness around the injection site, but this is natural and will heal within a few days. Overall, dermal filler treatments can last between 6 months and one year, after that the treated area will return to how it looked before the dermal fillers.

Following your treatment, we advise you to take it easy for around 48 hours to ensure the dermal fillers settle. Here are some general recommendations to help ensure the longevity of your treatment, and correct healing.

  • Avoid exercise for 48 hours
  • Stay away from extreme heat, including direct sunlight
  • Avoid touching/ massaging the area for 48 hours
  • Avoid skincare and makeup for 24 hours
  • Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and avoid the consumption of alcohol for 24 hours.
